Board tours priority projects on island

On Tuesday, 28 May the Rottnest Foundation Board braved the wet weather to hold our May Board meeting on Wadjemup, Rottnest Island.

We were joined by Rottnest Foundation Ambassadors; Jeff King and Andy Fethers as well as key staff from the Rottnest Island Authority, including Executive Director Jason Banks, Deputy Chair of the RIA Board Ann Robinson and James O'Hare from Everclime.

The highlight of the day was a three-hour tour highlighting various sites associated with our five priority projects on the Island, with detailed commentary from the RIA Environment and Heritage Teams, including Rebecca Gabbitus and Richenda Prall.

The projects all focus on preserving and enhancing Rottnest Island’s unique environmental, cultural, and heritage assets and 'conserving the essence of Wadjemup'.

Not only did this tour provide the Board a firsthand look at the priority project sites, but it has also energised the team by providing a glimpse of the positive outcomes that can eventuate when focusing on long-term sustainability and conservation.
